Does Fido all But Get A Seat at the Dinner Table?
By: New York Dog Nanny

Any person that has ever owned a dog knows that it’s just like taking care of a child without ALL of the responsiblities. 18 year committent (just about). Potty Training (Double check). Obediance classes (where are these for the kids?).

Your pet is always on your mind. You’re worry about their safety on walks. Youre’ concerned about their well-being if they get sick. It can be a 24/7 worry in motion. But there is nothing to pull your hair out about as long as you know you’re taking great care of your pet. Here’s some of our suggestions:

One of the best things to ever show care for your dog is by showing the dog that they are a member of the family. When you or your family is together in the living room during movie night, and the dog is right there on the pillow, or on your lap, you show that you love your pet as much as you love your family. It doesn’t mean giving the pet extra benefits like an extra seat at the dinner table.

Another way to build that bond is by being present when walking your dog outside. Some people may look at it as just fifteen minutes they can multi-task on. What a lot of people don’t know is that there is an emotional connection that builds when you are walking with your pet. When you are walking your pet, there are many bits of mind chatter that can cloud the brain and distract from the full gift that bonding connection that can be made with your pet:

Did I send out that email?
What should I eat for dinner?
I have to pick up my dry cleaning.
Why doesn’t that person just walk around us?

These are a series of statement from owners during dog walks in NYC. You never know how much you about your pet until your mother/father protection instincts came in. So dog walks are important. Who knows? Maybe it’ll also help you out emotionally.
