Animal Rescue Fund of The Hamptons (ARF) is holding a Pet Celebration Day on Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The public is invited to bring their fidos on leashes and felines in carriers to join in on the fun free festivities which include testing out the agility course, entering contests and snacking on treats from the Freshpet carving station for dogs and cats which will have free samples of the real food made from fresh ingredients.
Free microchipping, the quickest and most efficient way to reunite a lost pet with its owner, will be availble. As will rabies vaccines which were donated by Suffolk County Health Department and will be administered by ARF board member and owner of Gramercy Park Animal Hospital, Dr. Jay Kuhlman.
The East Hampton Town Board is helping ARF commemorate 39 years of caring for animals by proclaiming May 11, 2013 “ARF day in East Hampton.” Town Councilman Dominick J. Stanzione will be at Pet Celebration Day to present the “ARF Day” proclamation.
While the pets are having their fun, the owners can enjoy a performance by Sandy Rapp while sipping on coffee donated by Hampton Coffee Company and eating warm Dreesen’s Famous Donuts which will be made on-site.
Three local volunteers Eunice Bennett, Mina Kahofer, and Cathy McHugh, will be awarded The Friend of Animals Award for their devotion at ARF. They have walked and socialized newly arrived dogs through summer heat, winter wind, hurricanes and snowstorms, making sure hundreds of dogs make the transition to ARF.
