All pet parents want their super-loved pup to have a healthy and fulfilling life- but most pups will end up with some sort of preventable disease or ailment that has its roots in a medical/physical health condition- not a behavoiral one. The quality of care that you give your pet will have a major impact on his or her health, decision making, impulse control and personality. Here are some things that you can do to support your dog’s wellbeing.

See Your Veterinarian on a Regular Basis

It is essential that dogs receive the preventive medical care that they need in order to monitor their health effectively especially when it comes to the #1 reason New Yorkers seek out a dog trainer to go beyond the basic puppy class basics. Did you know that excessively barky or demanding dogs could be trying to get your attention due to an ear ache, or some other ailment/discomfort.  When veterinarians are able to diagnose developing health conditions early on, it is easier to administer successful treatment. Also, it spares dogs from unnecessary discomfort.

Owners must remember that it may not always be obvious when something is wrong with their furry family member. Your dog can’t outright tell you when something feels bad. Also, dogs sometimes instinctively mask discomfort. Preventive care and wellness exams provide an opportunity to detect issues before they become severe.

While many conditions that require medical attention may not be readily apparent, owners should be attentive to changes in their dogs’ behavior that could be indicative of a problem. When they have any type of concern that something isn’t right, they should coordinate medical care as soon as possible.

Be Physically Active With Your Dog

If you live a mostly sedentary lifestyle, it will naturally make your dog’s day-to-day activities more sedentary. In other words, if you’re not getting enough physical activity into your day or even have a tendency to avoid physical exertion, your dog may very likely fall into the same pattern of inactivity.

It is important to keep in mind that one of the best benefits of dog ownership is that it can improve your health. In addition to supporting mental health, having a dog in your family can have the effect of making people more active. The simple act of taking your dog for a walk, for example, may add some more exercise into your day that you otherwise wouldn’t get. Ideally, you should try to maximize the amount of physical activity that you do with your dog. Both you and your dog will reap some important health benefits. Whether your dog is a puppy or an adult, you should try to bring your energy levels more in line with your dog’s so that you can help him or her get the right amount of exercise.

A few things that you can do to enhance your energy include getting more sleep, eating more nutritiously and taking a supplement that can support your energy levels such as Thrive. What is Thrive and how does it help give you energy? In contrast to energy supplements that are composed of stimulant-based ingredients, Thrive delivers key vitamins and nutrients to support how your body converts food into energy. By making one or more of these changes and giving yourself some extra momentum, you and your dog can enjoy fun activities together such as going for a long brisk walk, jogging, or swimming. Apart from the cardio and toning benefits that you’ll both get, being active is a great way to spend quality time together.

Support Your Dog’s Tummy (Digestive) Health

Your dog’s gut health plays a central role in his or her overall well-being. If your dog experiences problems with elimination such as constipation or runny stool on a fairly frequent basis, it’s important to take action.

Talk to your veterinarian about how your dog’s current diet could be affecting his or her digestive system. It may be necessary to conduct lab work to analyze enzymatic levels and other relevant metrics. A change in food to something made from all-natural and high-quality ingredients may be the key to improving your dog’s digestion. It may also be advantageous to incorporate a supplement with probiotics into your dog’s daily routine.

Your dog is counting on you to stay happy and healthy. Keep your dog’s tail wagging with comprehensive medical care, plenty of exercise, good food, and lots of love.
