It is very important for a family to have a pet. For parents this might be one more obligation, but for children it is the best way to learn about caring and sharing. A dog is the most interactive pet your kids can have, which is probably the reason why most families have dogs.

However, there are things you must consider before you decide on a dog breed that will be suitable for your family. You have to consider your lifestyle, the age of your kids, how big your house and yard are, how often and for how long you are away from home, can you take your dog with you, and only then can you decide on the breed.

Make a serious decision

Bringing a dog into your family must never be a rushed decision. You must be sure that you are ready to be a responsible dog owner, which includes so much more than simply providing your dog with food and shelter. You and your family will need to play with them, provide your dog with all needed medical treatments and care that sometimes can be costly but necessary, give them much love, and be prepared for the fact that your dog will think of themself as a member of the family. In fact, having a pet is like having a child that will never grow up.

If you and your family are often away from home, then you need a small lovable dog that you can take on weekends and vacations with your family. Whatever breed you choose, you must collect as much information about them as possible to be able to provide all the care they need. If you happen to decide on a cute little French bulldog, then you should visit Frenchie bulldog store and learn everything you need to know about this cute little breed.

Shop or adopt?

This is the question we do not like to consider, because every soul in this world needs a home and a loving family. And yes, there is a possibility to adopt a cute breed you are going to love for a long time from the rescue. They can hire an expert that can tell how pure the breed is, how old the dog is, they can take care of possibly needed medications on a short term, until the dog gets adopted. However, keep in mind that there is a possibility that this dog might need some longer time to adjust, because the life that they’ve previously had might not have been a great one. So, just take your time and be patient.

If you decide to buy a dog from a breeder, and you are not an expert, do some research and find a reputable breeder. They must show transparency in their breeding practices, and allow you to see the puppies in person. Alternatively, they can also show you the father and the mother-to-be, in case the puppies are not born yet, and tell you when they expect the babies to be available for adoption.

A breed you need

If you have a young family, it is recommended to choose a family-friendly breed. Especially if you have little kids, you need a breed that is recognizable for their patience, tolerance and affection towards children.

If we are talking about a senior couple, they will need some small breed that will like to spend time in their lap. There are breeds for everybody’s needs.

What dog size is right for your

Think of all the factors that will condition your dog’s size. It is important to think about the size of your home, because the dog will want to be near its family often. If you live in a small apartment, you will, of course, be better off with a smaller breed, to ensure that everyone has enough space to function normally.

On the other hand, if you live in a house with a big yard, there’s simply no limit to the size of the dog you will adopt.
