Dog Walker Backup: What Every Dog Owner should have!

By June 30, 2011March 26th, 2015No Comments

It’s happened to all of us before, where we need to use a dog walking service at the last minute. Sometimes its because of a last minute appointment and other times its because we’re sick or something else comes up. Whatever the reason, it’s important to have the contact information for a dog walker in case an urgent need arises.

In the event of an emergency, the last thing you want to do is scramble to find a dog walker. However, hiring a dog walker shouldn’t be as easy as picking up the phone or sending an email. You need to get to know the person who will care for your dog, and that process can take time and research… Certainly not something that should be done with no time to spare!

Right now, I recommend contacting a local dog walker, even if you don’t need to use his or her services today. Inevitably, there will be a time when you need a dog walker on short notice, and it will be great to have someone in mind. Similarly, most dog walkers want to meet / get to know your dog before agreeing to walk him. If you find a dog walking service before you need to use it, you will be covered when the time comes.

We’ve shared some tips to hire a dog walker, but you likely won’t have time to follow through with them all if you’re searching at the last minute. Do yourself a favor and find someone to walk your dog even if you don’t have a need right now. When the time does come, you will be prepared.

At New York Dog Nanny we always have a backup to your normal walker. This means that a dog walk is merely a call/text message/email/ping away.
