Many people ask what are the foundation of training an NYC dog to be responsive to the owners commands, not pull on the leash and also to be healthy and stress free. One basic first command that puppies learn in our basic obediance class is how to enter into the “Zen” mindset aka “calm state of mind”. Before any learning, before any basic obediance we teach that a stress free, easy going temperment always works in the dogs favor (and yours).  If you are wondering what a few basic “stress behaviors” then you are not unlike most dog parents in Manhattan. Common signs of stress include: pacing, chewing on a toy excessively when greeting you or your friends at the door, whining, and barking.  For tips and how to quickly and effectively modify stress behaviors in your dog, check out our channel on Youtube: New York Dog Nanny.
